Sometimes I’m amazed.

When I decided to make the transition from my corporate wellness position to my own Pilates and Wellness business, there was one MAJOR driving factor. I knew a way to help people who didn’t think they could exercise anymore, exercise safely. Who are these types of people?

Here are some of the conditions I have worked with in the past/present:

  • Hip Replacements

  • Knee Replacements

  • Shoulder injuries/surgeries

  • Back and neck surgeries

  • Breast and other Cancers

  • Strokes

  • Overweight

  • Traumatic Head injuries

  • Multiple Abdominal Surgeries

  • Organ Transplants

  • Autism

  • Wrist injuries/surgeries

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Scoliosis

The other day I caught myself laughing with my class a little bit because I out of the 6 people in the class, I was working around 3 significant injuries and leading us through.

Yes, people can come to Pilates with their wrist in a brace, their foot in a boot or a knee that won’t bend to 90 degrees.

Today, I had the honor to get to work with a dear friend and co-worker who I haven‘t seen in many years. This fantastic lady was hit by a dump truck full of gravel when the truck’s tire blew in 2018. She was left with over 20 broken bones.

It was a beautiful experience, once again, to see that the body can overcome and is capable of more than we think. Gentle, mindful exercise can rebuild confidence, support connection with the body, and create independence.

Oh what a wonderful feeling to be able to help people in this way!
